Tilt-Up Construction
Durable, Cost-Effective Buildings Constructed Quickly
Tilt-Up construction is an innovative and effective system for building construction which combines highly-flexible design, expedited scheduling, and a healthy return on investment. With Tilt-Up, concrete wall panels are cast on site and lifted into place. This produces durable structures with significant time and cost savings when compared to more traditional construction processes.
How it Works
In the most basic sense, tilt-up construction is exactly what it sounds like: building a structure by literally tilting flat panels upright. More specifically, tilt-up construction is an efficient process for building construction because it allows for the pouring of concrete panels in the same location where they will eventually be placed. Wooden frames are built to create the panel forms, and then concrete is poured and reinforced with rebar. Once the concrete dries, the panel is tilted up into position using a crane. The end result is a series of connected exterior walls to which virtually by building material-siding, veneer, paint, or anything else can be applied. Citadel has been in the Tilt-Up construction business for more than twenty years and our expertise in the field is unmatched.

Why Tilt Up?
By incorporating tilt-up construction, we can provide superior results in less time and for lower costs:
- Because the concrete panels are assembled on-site, lead times and costs associated with production are dramatically reduced.
- The panels themselves can be erected very quickly and with less manpower than traditional methods. That speed translates into interior work beginning sooner.
- Reinforced concrete is a superb insulating material that will save money on energy costs during the lifespan of the building.
Features and Benefits
Tilt-up construction is simply the best way to build a concrete structure. The concrete used in the process meets all fire safety codes while providing a surface that is virtually maintenance-free. Additionally, structures built with tilt-up concrete are better able to withstand the effects of time and other potentially damaging environmental conditions. Finally, tilt-up buildings tend to have lower insurance premiums and reduced operating costs over the course of time. In short, you get a safer building that costs less to maintain. What more could you ask for?
Beyond those features, there are numerous benefits to tilt-up construction when compared to other methods:
- Tilt-up construction is more time- and cost-effective due to the reduced labor costs and time delays associated with the process. Your project is completed quicker and more economically.
- Tilt-up construction is safer than other construction methods, because the majority of the work is performed by laborers working on the ground. That means no scaffolding or other potential worksite hazards.
- Tilt-up construction is more environmentally sensitive. It requires less material for construction and the panels themselves can be recycled if the original structure is ever taken down or otherwise altered.
- Tilt-up construction allows for a variety of decorative customizations, so the final structure has the potential to be much more visually appealing than a concrete slab.
