The Kingston Plantation Brewhouse is a new addition to the Embassy Suites Resort in Myrtle Beach, SC, totaling 14,320 sq ft. The Brewhouse serves as a restaurant and event space for the resort, with a wood-fired pizza station, bar, and kitchen catering to the neighboring resort pool on the 7,160 sq ft first floor. The second floor boasts a 360-occupant event hall with three 16-foot wide overhead doors that can be opened to extend the event space onto a 1,700 sq ft balcony. Designed to withstand harsh winds and the salt spray environment along the oceanfront, the building features a Tilt-Up panel exterior clad with stainless steel accents, Kynar-finished aluminum canopies and railings. Nearly 12,000 sq ft of fluted formliner is cast into the building’s exterior panel area. One is oriented vertically and with a tighter spacing, and the other horizontally with 6” spacing. Combating the corrosive elements not only made Tilt-Up construction a great option for the exterior walls but also impacted designs such as the balcony. Cast as an elevated slab, the balcony features an 8 ½” thick leading edge, supported on 19’H, 11 ¼” thick Tilt-Up panels.
